Lieutenant Colonel Frank Marston Norton was born on 23rd December 1895 at Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, the eldest son of Edward Norton and Fannie Stacey. [1] From 1906 until after the First World War, his family lived in London whilst his father worked as South Australia's trade commissioner.
Frank served with the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War, 1915-1919. He was a Lieutenant.[2]
In 1932 at Adelaide, South Australia, he married Alice Shelton "Shell" Preston (1905-1984). [3]. [4]
They had three children:—
On 3rd September 1939, Frank was commissioned in the Second Australian Imperial Force for service overseas during the Second World War.[5] [6] He was discharged from military service on 12th February 1947.
Frank passed away on 11th December 1955 at Brighton, Victoria, aged 59 [59y 11m 19d]. [7]
Following a service on 13th December 1955, his remains were cremated at Springvale Botanical Cemetery. The tenure has likely expired. [Please contact Cemetery]. [9] [10]
