Nevil was murdered by William and James Lightfoot whilst journeying home to Egloshayle from Bodmin on 8th February 1840. Sadly, the grief-stricken widow passed away just six months later on 7th August 1840 at Wadebridge, Cornwall. She was buried with her late husband. Her headstone inscription reads:
"Also IN MEMORY of SARAH NORWAY his wife who survived her husband six months She died the 7th of August 1840."
