Biography
Geoge Notley achieved a B.A. at Merton College Oxford and was ordained by Edward Willes, Bishop of Bath and Wells, as a deacon on 25 May 1746,[1] and soon after as a priest on 21 Sept 1746 at the Chapel of the Bishop's Palace, Wells, Somerset.[2]
George Notley married Catherine Abell, the daughter of Dr. WIlliam Abell of Stogumber, on the 17th of February 1749 at Stogumber, Somerset, England. [3]
He was appointed Curate of Middlezoy/Othery on 15 Oct 1755 by Edward Willes, Bishop of Bath and Wells. [4]
The Reverend George Notley's will was written on the 7th of July 1768 and proved on the 23rd of August 1769. [5] His will, transcibed here ,mentions his wife, Catherine Notley, and their daughters Anna Notley and Mary Notley, and their son George Notley. The Rev. George Notley names his brother John Notley of Chillington, Somerset, and George's brother-in-law, John Abel of Tiverton, as Executors.
