Charles Nott was born in Devon, England.

Charles was born on 27 Mar, 1851 in Swimbridge, Devon, England. He was the son of Thomas Nott and Fanny Verney.[1][2] He was baptised on 4 May, 1851 at Swimbridge, Devon, England. His family were residing at Swimbridge, and his father's occupation was listed as labourer.[3]

In 1861, Charles, aged 10 years, appeared on the census, residing at Yolland Road, Swimbridge, Devon, England.[4]

Charles married Mary Alice Yeo on 19 Jul, 1878 at Gulgong, New South Wales, Australia.[5]

Charles passed away on 13 Feb, 1939[6] at his residence, "Oakfield", near Dunedoo, New South Wales, Australia, aged 87 years. He was interred on 14 Feb, 1939 at Cobbora Cemetery, Cobbora, New South Wales, Australia.[7][8] [2]

Six sons: George Thomas (Three Mile Creek, Cobbora), Charles Edmund (Dunedoo), Joshua William (Woodlands, Cobbora), Albert James (Mudgee), Walter Herbert (Mudgee), and Frederick John (Langdene, Cobbora), and three daughters: Mrs. Eliza Ann Chapman (Dunedoo), Mrs. Victoria Alice Cicognani (Lakemba), and Mrs. Thursa Beatrice Rusten (Dunedoo) were left to mourn their loss.[2]

Probate was granted to George Thomas Nott and Albert James Nott, the executors of the will.[9]

Will of Charles Nott

"THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me CHARLES NOTT of "Oakfield", Cobbora in the State of New South Wales, Grazier. I REVOKE all wills heretofore by me made and appoint my sons GEORGE THOMAS NOTT and ALBERT JAMES NOTT to be the Executors and Trustees of this my will and hereinafter called my Trustees I GIVE DEVISE AND BEQUEATH the whole of my estate of whatsoever nature and wheresoever situated to my said Trustees UPON TRUST as to the whole of my furniture and effects for my three daughters ELIZA ANN CHAPMAN, VICTORIA ALICE CICOGNANI and THURZA BEATRICE RUSTEN in equal shares share and share alike AND as to all the rest and residue of my estate UPON TRUST to convert into cash such of my estate as does not consist of moneys at their discretion and also to realise my investments as soon as may be after my death and with and out of the proceeds of such sale and conversion of my estate and the realisation of my investments together with such moneys as I may die possessed of to divide the proceeds thereof after payment of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses equally between my following children namely:- GEORGE THOMAS NOTT, CHARLES EDMUND NOTT, JOSEPH WILLIAM NOTT, ALBERT JAMES NOTT, WALTER HERBERT NOTT, FREDERICK JOHN NOTT, ELIZA ANN CHAPMAN, VICTORIA ALICE CICOGNANI, and THURZA BEATRICE RUSTEN. I direct that my said Trustees may postpone the sale and conversion of my real estate for such period as they may think in the interest of my estate but so as not to unduly delay the winding up and division of my estate. IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand to this will this eleventh day of February One Thousand nine hundred and thirty-six."[10]
