Biography

I suspect that he (John Nottage b abt 1775) was married, or at least had a child with Margaret Campbell in 1800 - James Nottage, born 1800. This is why I suspect that his marriage to Hannah was after 1800. Our Family history spoke of John's father being James. It could have been his 24 year old brother that helped raise him.....

So:

Spouse 1: Margaret Campbell married 13 Oct 1805, she was "free woman of Colour." Dolly Mae.

Child: James b, about 1800. He was free then, was she? Baptized 18 July 1800. Dolly Mae. He obviously also had a daughter, Eleanor who married Alexander Campbell. I have an indenture that calls him his son-in-law and mentions her name. - in my possession.

Spouse 2.: Hannah (who was a slave he bought from J. Barnett and freed 1811) I have this document in my possession.

Child: John A, b. abt. 1824 I have this baptism record in my possession. Baptized 5 June 1825 age 10 months.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
