Biography

Thomas was born about 1799. He was the son of William Nottingham and Letia Unknown. He married Harriett Addison in 1828. He married Elizabeth Snead in 1836. [1][2][3][4]

Thomas W(alter?) Nottingham was born circa 1799 at Northampton Co, VA.[1]

He was on the personal property tax list on 4 April 1825 at Northampton Co, VA. He was shown as Thos. Nottingham of Wm. with no taxable items. There was also a Wm. Nottingham of Wm. (B.S.) with no taxable items who was evidently his brother.[2]

He married Harriett (of Wm) Addison, daughter of William (f/o Harriett) Addison, on 23 February 1828 at Northampton Co, VA. Thos B. Fisher was security on the M.L.B. of Thomas Nottingham and Harriett Addison, daughter of William Addison, who gave consent. Geo. W. Dunton witness.[3]

He married Elizabeth Snead (widow) on 20 December 1836 at Northampton Co, VA. Wm Spady was security on the M.L.B. of Thomas W. Nottingham and Elizabeth Snead, widow. (NOTE: Wm. Spady had married Margaret Nottingham in 1823, the presumed sister of Thomas W. Nottingham.)[3][4]

He was the security on a M.L.B. On 11 September 1838 at Northampton Co, VA. Thomas J.(sic) (W?) Nottingham was security on the M.L.B. of William Nottingham and Elizabeth Snead and the guardian of Elizabeth. They were married on 11 Sep 1838.[3]

Thomas was listed as a head of household in the census of 21 October 1850 at Princess Anne Co, VA. HH#873 was headed by Thos. W. Nottingham, a 51 year old farmer. Listed with him were the following Nottinghams: Betsey, age 50; Matilda, age 7; Malynds J. (female), age 5. (NOTE 1: Living next door in HH#872 were Seth Bell, a 51 year old farmer and his wife Amy Bell and at the bottom of the household was Walter Nottingham, a 22 year old laborer, who was possibly the son of Thos. W. Nottingham.) (NOTE 2: Living a few doors away in HH#876 were Wm. Henderson, a 51 year old farmer. Listed with him were John Henderson, age 15; Severn Nottingham, age 19; Edw'd Ross, age 13; and Catharine Henderson, age 48. Severn was probably the son of Thos. W. Nottingham.)[1]
