Benjamin Jonathan Nowell was baptised at St Peter's, Liverpool, Lancashire on 19 November 1820.[1]
In 1849 he married Mary Monte Jackman at St George's, Hanover Square, London.[2]
The 1851 census lists him at Llandesilis, Caernarvonshire, Wales, age 30, railway contractor, born Liverpool, Lancashire. Wife Mary Monte (mis-transcribed on Familysearch as Morti), 25, born Hampshire (exact place undecipherable). Daughter Emily, Emily, 1, born Menai Bridge, Anglesey.[3]
The 1871 census records him at St Albans, Hertfordshire, age 50, widower, retired railway contractor. Daughter Emily, age 21, born Anglesey, Wales. 1 servant, 1 visitor, niece Ava G Robinson, 15, born Yorkshire.[4]
In 1875 he married Letitia Wilkins: the marriage was registered at Edmonton, Middlesex.[5]
The 1881 census records him at St Albans, Hertfordshire, age 60, railway contractor. Wife Letitia, 39, born Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Daughter Emily, 31, born Anglesey, Wales. 1 servant.[6]
Benjamin's death was registered in the 4th quarter of 1891 at Luton, Bedfordshire.[7]
In the 1840s with his Father James Support Benjamin tendered for contracts with John Hemingway and Charles Pearson for the masonry on the Brittannia Bridge.
