Bernadetta was born in 1928. She passed away in 2018. The passing of Bernadetta Dorothy Stafford occurred on Sunday, April 8, 2018 with her family by her side at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She battled cancer for several months. She was a very strong and determined woman.
Bernadetta was known for working hard, wonderful cooking, and a kind heart. She was always happy and cheerful and the Mom and Grannie that the family went for advise and help. Bernadetta loved her family and grandkids. Her latest pride and joy was her youngest great grandsons, Aubrey, Finnigan and Calvin. She was the daughter of the late Kirby and Gladys Nowlan, she was one in a family of ten, three girls and seven boys; a younger brother was killed by a farm accident. She grew up on the family farm in Stanley, where she worked very hard helping her parents with younger siblings and chores. Bernadetta and her sister, Birdie married brothers, Harvey and James Stafford (Birdie). Her and dad, Harvey worked in the Cotton Mill until they purchased the farm in Penniac. On the farm they sold apples and had milking cows. Later they moved to Marysville and built their home on River Street. They raised three children, Gary, Judy and Edward, and where they lived out the rest of their lives. Bernadetta was a very caring and loving mother and grandmother. She could fix anything and make things better. She was a big part of the family business after Dad passed she devoted her life helping her son run the family business. Bernadetta loved to spoil her grandkids. She was known as “Grannie” to more than just family. She will forever remain in our hearts as well as her teachings. Her work is done here on earth, now she is with God and her loved ones.
Bernadetta is survived by her two sons, Gary Stafford and Edward Stafford; grandchildren, Chrissy Stafford, Lindsay Hagerman, Jaimie Stafford, Jerry Stafford, Randy Stafford and Tina Stafford; several great grandkids, great great grandkids, nieces and nephews; brother, Tommy “Frank” Nowlan.
Bernadetta was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Harvey Stafford; daughter, Judy Elliot; sisters, Birdie Stafford and Betty Rogers; brothers, Willie, Johnny, Pat, Everette, Carl and Ronnie.
