Biography

Sophie L. Nuckolls was born the sixth of 13 known children to Clark Nucholls and his wife Rosa (Hale) Nuckolls. Her sister Amelia married Ballard Ward; and after she died, Sophie married him. They had one child together and she died shortly after his birth.

Sophia K. Nuckolls is the name in The Nuckolls Report Chapter V. Sophia is the name that appears in the census reports so that is probably her given name and Sophie is her nickname. The K middle initial appears on only one source and that is an old optical character reading which could easily be mistaken.
