William was born in 1893.

He served in World War I from May 29, 1918 through January 16, 1919 in the U.S. Army.

He passed away in 1972.

William H. Nunes, 79, formerly of Galt, died Friday in Stockton. Nunes was a native of Hayward. While living in the Galt and Stockton areas, he worked as a wholesale grocer for Safeway Stores. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Masonic Klamath No. 77 of AF&AM, Klamath, Ore. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dela Nunes of Stockton; two daughters, Mrs. Clarice Casey of Stockton and Mrs. Wilma Hammon of Oakland; a son, William Nunes of Fair Oaks; three brothers, Thomas Nunes and Joseph Nunes of Oakland and Anthony Nunes of Wonewoc, Wis.; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
