Biography

Henrietta Sarah Nunn is the daughter of Fantleroy Nunn and Elizabeth Overby born about 1840. That is the date on her gravestone, but there are many other dates to be found that are not civil records. Her census dates range from 1836-1842 and not one census agrees. My Gibson family records states 11 Mar 1835 and the 1900 census states Sep 1839. And a cousin on Ancestry has a date 9 Jan 1840. I don't know what her real birth date is, but she was born in Kentucky for sure. She was given the name Green when her father died before 1850 and her mother married John Green. This can be seen in the 1850 census with 4 named Nunn children with John & Elizabeth Green. Henrietta is age 9 living in Henderson Kentucky. Her son's, James Enos Askew, death certificate named his mother Henrietta Green by his daughter Edna Hubbard.

In 1860, Henrietta, age 18, is found living with Jos Green next door to her future husband David Askew in Crittenden Arkansas. They were married later that year after 21 Dec 1860, the date of their bond.^[1]

She and David went back to Henderson KY where they remained for the remainder of their lives. She is found with David there in 1870 age 34, 1880 age 41, 1900 age 60. She died the next year. ^[2]
