Mary was born in 1840[1] and baptised in Blacktoft, Yorkshire, England.[2] She lived with her parents, Robert Nurse and Ann White, in Eastrington, Yorkshire.[3][4]
In 1871 Mary married William Jackson.[5] The family lived in Eastofts, Yorkshire, at the time of the 1871 census,[6] but by 1881 they had moved to Amcotts, Lincolnshire. William was a farm bailiff.[7]
In 1901 Mary was a boarding house keeper in Goole, Yorkshire, where she lived with two of her children, her sister Hannah, and a boarder.[8] At the time of the 1911 census Mary was visiting Solomon and Agnes Amos in Barrow in Furness, Lancashire.[9]
