Biography
- James Nutgrass was born in 1997 [1] or 1799[2] [3]in Kentucky to Gray Lanty Nutgrass and Edna Pugh. James was the third of six children and was the first son. He was apparently named for Gray's father.
- James married Sarah (Sally) Ware on 8 September 1820 in Shelby County, Kentucky. [4] Together they raised ten children:
- William (1823-1902)
- Mary (1825-1865)
- Nancy (1826-1906)
- Edna Jane (1829-1908)
- Harrison (1830-1912)
- Catherine (1833-1914)
- James P. Jr. (1837-1917)
- Susan (1838-Deceased.)
- Louisa (1843-1910) and
- Miranda (1845-Deceased).
