Biography

1597: Born in Sárvár. [1] Pál I had a military career and was quick to attract attention as the hero of the Kanizsa battle.[2] 1604: Lord Lieutenant of Vas[2] at age 6, after the death of his father although he only took his oath in 1610 at age 13.[1] 1605: Lord Lieutenant of Sopron[1] 1 July 1618: Knight of the Golden Spur[1] 1622: Captain of Transdanubia[3][2] 1623: Royal Chamberlain[1] He was created Count in 1625.[2] First married to Judit Forgách then to Judit Révay. With the latter they had two children: Ferenc III and Anna M., a nun.[2]

Like his father, he supported arts, establishing presses in Sopronkeresztúr and Csepreg where he had the Lutheran prayer book of Imre Farkas titled Áhitatos és buzgó imádságoc printed in 1631. [4]
