Henry Wanstall was married to Mary Ann Stewart Bateson nee O’Brien, a relative of my husbands.

Mary Ann was born 10 Aug 1839 in Sydney to George O’Brien and Anne Murnane (spelt Muarne, Murneney) in Sydney and lived her early life in Cumberland St.

She was the eldest of 9 children, 3 only survived birth. Ricks Great Grandfather was the last recorded birth, Francis George O’Brien born 310/1856. Another sister was Catherine born 24/9/1851, she married Joseph Gill 11/71881 and died in Adelaide 1917. The fifth child was a second Michael but don’t know if he survived.

Mary Ann married a man in Melbourne when she was 20yrs old, his name was James (Stewart) Bateson. According to her death cert. They had no children.

She then married Henry Wanstall at St Patricks, Churchill, Sydney, on the 2581881. His status states Batchelor and hers Widow.

At the bottom of the cert: “This marriage no. 811278 was dissolved by decree of The Supreme Court of NSW 19/10/1897. Reg. No. 2587 on 26/101897.”.
