Notes

John O'Bryant was born ca. 1812 Tennessee probably in Sullivan or Carter Co., as the O'Briens (O'Bryants) had considerable property holdings there during that time period. He moved from Tennessee south into Lauderdale Co. Alabama, ca. 1826-27, about the same time that James O'Bryant moved his family to Alabama.

John O'Bryant was a farmer by trade as stated on all census records. He settled on a farm located a short distance from Florence, Alabama, in the early 1830's. Here he met and married Ellen Bailey ca. 1836, and at least eight children were born. Ellen was born ca. 1819 Alabama.
