Geoffrey 'of the Great Herds' O'Connell was the son of Maurice MacDaniel MacGeoffrey O'Connell and Ellen O'Callaghan.[1]
Geoffrey O'Connell of Kilkeeveragh, Portmagee & Dunmaniheen (d 1722) m. Elizabeth Conway (daughter of Edward,[1] or Edmund.[2][3] Conway of Glenbeigh). They had at least 3 children.[1]

He was said to be 38[2][3] when he died falling from his horse on Drung Hill[1] in 1722. He was buried in Caherciveen cemetery.[3]
His widow Elizabeth was appointed Administrator of his estate.[4] She was still alive in 1740.[5]
