Biography

Online birth records have his name as Alphinus Maurice Oconner and date of birth 11/3/1884. His father's name is recorded as James Oconner.

In 1906, 1910 and 1912 he was a farmer near Cunderdin.

He joined the Western Australian Police Force in 1913. He was stationed at many locations around the state during his career.

In 1916 and 1917 he was police constable in Bunbury.

In 1925 he was a police constable at Ravensthorpe.

In 1933 he became a third class sergeant.

In 1936 he was living in York with his wife Annie and Doris Mary O'Connor.

In 1937 he was made a first class sergeant.

For several years he was Sgt in charge of Narrogin Police Station and was still there in April 1943.

In late 1943 he was made Inspector in Perth and moved from Narrogin in Jan 1944.

In April 1946 he was appointed Inspector in charge of the Geraldton police district.

In Jan 1948 he took 13 months accumulated leave prior to his retirement.

In 1949 he was living at 18 Windsor St East Perth and his occupation was Police Inspector.

In 1954 he was living at 19 Almondbury Rd Mt Lawley. Also living there were his wife Annie, son Raymond James and daughter in law Bverely Vilma.

In 1958 he was still there with his wife.

He died age 83. He is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery with his wife.
