Biography

This sweet face in the picture belongs to our Mother, who died on Friday, February 5th, 2016. Mother was 93, full of life’s joy and wonder. Mother was preceded by her beloved spouse of 54 years, Earl LeRoy Farmer in July 1998. Daughter, Rebecca Kershaw and son in-law, David Kershaw. Granddaughter, Kimberly Collier Kraemer. Mother-in-Law, Ruby Webber Farmer. In November, 2015, son-in-law, Richard J. Collier. She was the tenth child born to Michael Edward O’Connor and Catherine M. O’Connor (Dolan), in St. Louis County, Missouri. Being the last child born, she wanted to be the oldest sibling when she died. We are pleased to announce that she won that contest.

Survived by Susan Collier, Bridgeton, Missouri. Melissa (John) Mills, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Faith (Greg) Taylor, Lawrence, Kansas and Michael (Sally) Farmer, Emporia, Kansas.

Grandchildren, Bridgette (Michael) Kearby, Chesterfield, Missouri, Matthew (Krystal) Kershaw, Topeka, Kansas. Jeffrey Taylor, San Francisco, California, Leigh Kershaw, Salina, Kansas, Joseph (Clayton) Yearns, Raymore, Missouri and Emily (Dana-Joel) Nicholson of New York, New York.

Her sisters-in-law, Marion Eileen Hoganson, Kenosha, Wisconsin and LaVara (Lloyd) Frye, Florissant, Missouri.

Great Grandchildren, Nicole and Kelly Kraemer, Michael and Kimberly Kearby. Danielle, Anastasia, Cole and Clair Compton, Ethan and DeMarco Yearns. Two Great Great grandchildren, Charlotte and Camden and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. To the grandchildren she was Grandma, Darling, Granny, and Great Granny.

Of all her passions, dancing and being Irish are at the top of her list. Susan and Faith accompanied Mother to her trip to Ireland in 1999 and she loved riding in prize winning floats in the Lee’s Summit St. Patrick’s Day Parades. Mother’s flair for her performance dance and dance swing time with her high school sweetheart, Dad, would clear the dance floor for others to enjoy. Please note, hardly a day went by without a mention of her dancing. Always a mental eye-roll from her children who patiently listened to each repeated story. We all share the same hope that she is dancing with dad in heaven now.

Her visitation will be Monday, February 8th starting with a Rosary said at 6:00pm followed by visitation till 9pm at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd St, Lee’s Summit, Missouri (816) 524-3700. This will be your last chance to see her in her “Saved for Good” dress.

The funeral Mass will start at 10am on Tuesday, February 9th at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 150 NW Murray Road, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri.

Final thought to keep, Mother’s Motto was “When in trouble, say the Hail Mary and forget about it”.
