Millicent Kate O'Connor was born to Jeremiah and Margaret O'Connor in 1874 in Penwith NSW Australia. She was their third child.
Millicent and her Mother, Margaret were at one time employed at a Hotel at Blacktown in New South Wales which was managed by Edward John Glossop. Margaret was the cook for the hotel and Millicent was employed as either a Housemaid or nursemaid. Edward Glossop formed a liaison with Millicent and in 1896 Millicent had his child, Edward Vernon Glossop, in Ballarat Victoria. The couple had two further children, Eileen Rose and George, neither surviving child hood. Edward and Millicent never married as Edward was unable to divorce his wife although he tried in the courts. The judge, however decided that both Edward and his wife had been unfaithful in the marriage therefore he could not grant a divorce! It appears Edward did not have the money to appeal the case.[1]
Millicent eventually left Edward Glossop and her son Ted. She fled one night with William Henry Peacock, the handyman at the Residential Hotel in North Melbourne that Edward Glossop owned and she married him soon after in Sydney in 1916. [2] [3] Harry was a tram conductor in 1935 and lived at 66 Egan Street Camperdown NSW. [4]
Millicent Kate Peacock died in 1956 she predeceased her husband Harry Peacock[5] They still lived at 66 Egan Street Newtown NSW the rented house they had lived in for about 30 years even though her son Ted had offered to buy her a house.
