James was elected into the Kilwinning Parish Council in 1892 with the highest vote count,[1][2] and again in 1898.[3] He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace for Ayrshire in 1899.[4]
James passed away on 20 July 1905 at Anna Villa, Kilwinning, Ayrshire, Scotland. His occupation was noted as a pig dealer.[5]

There is a lair (burial plot) record listed in Glasgow, St Peter's Dalbeth Cemetery for a James O'Connor, age 75, buried on 22 July 1905. This is a little bit far away but is very likely to be him.
