Biography

Eloise J. "Lois" O'Dell was the daughter of Linzie Roscoe O'Dell and Elsie May Hake O'Dell. Her maternal grandparents were John Henry Hake and Martha Jane Long Hake.

Eloise J. O'Dell married Willis Herbert Russell. He was the son of Estell and Tressie Russell. He was a farmer.

Eloise J. "Lois" O'Dell Russell and Willis Russell had three children:

  • Patricia Louise Russell (January 11, 1939-August 27, 1955)
  • Darrel Gene Russell
  • Mark Lynn Russell ( June 17, 1955-July 21, 1992)

In the Find a Grave Memorial No. 96442912 for Mark Lynn Russell, it states that Mark was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and then moved with his family to the Hartville, Missouri area in 1970. He graduated from Hartville High School and worked with his father in the automobile body shop business. He passed away in a car accident on July 21, 1992 in Wright County, Missouri.


Eloise Jane "Lois" O'Dell Russell passed away on March 17, 1980 in Wright County, Missouri. She is buried at the Little Creek Cemetery at Hartville, Missouri.


The following is information obtained from the obituary in a newspaper for Eloise O'Dell Russell:

ELOISE RUSSELL

HARTVILLE---Services for Mrs. Eloise "Lois" Jane Russell, 61, Hartville, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Little Creek Batpist Church with the Revs. J. R. Bogart and Gerald Reed officiating. Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery under direction of Wood.

Mrs. Russell, who had been missing three weeks, was found Tuesday night by her husband in the basement of their home.

Wright County Sheriff Leo Bradshaw said Mrs. Russell left a note giving directions for her funeral and distribution of belongings before going to the basement, hiding behind several boxes and shooting herself with a .38 -caliber revolver.

A Wright County native, she and her husband, Willis, owned and operated Russell's Grocery north of here.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Darrell Gene and Mark, both of Hartville; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia Latimer and Mrs. Doris Cogdill, both of Hartville and Mrs. Golda Blackwell, Manes; six grandchilddren and a nephew, Bobby O'Dell, Hartville, who was raised in her parents' home.
