"None of the births of the children of Thomas and Margaret have ever been located in any of the extant old Maryland Parish Records – which is very odd indeed, and prevents us from being absolutely certain that we have identified all of their children – and from knowing the precise order if their births."
p. 465:

p. 468:
"The children of James and Martha (Prather) Odell, as named in the Aug. 11, 1779 account record… were (not necessarily in order of their births… ):
"i. Mary Odell, b. Jan. 16, 1748, prob. Fred. Co., Md.; d. bef. Jul. 18, 1822… , Newberry Dist., S. C., m. C1766, prob. Fred. Co., Thomas Duckett, son of Jacob and Sarah (Odell) Duckett, and her first cousin. He was b. Nov. 24, 1744, Pr. Geo’s Co., Md.; d. Sept. 1824, Newberry Dist., S. C…

p. 558:

"v. Elizabeth Odell,… was mentioned as an heir to her father… as, “Elizabeth Garrett”; therefore, by 1779, she had m. one _____ Garrett,… [believed] to be Nathan Garrett, son of John Garrett of Frederick Co., Md.…"
p. 559:

p. 561:
"ix. Sarah Odell, m. her cousin, Jacob Duckett, Jr. …her issue listed in the Duckett chapter, under her husband’s entry.
"x. Reginald Odell, possibly b. 1760/66, Frederick Co., Md.; d. 1805, Newberry Co., S. C.; m. his first cousin, Mary (Duckett) Williams, widow of Baruch Williams, and dau. of Jacob & Sarah (Odell) Duckett. She was prob. first m. C1772, and therefore must have been b. at least by C1757, if not before, and in Fred. Co., Md. She also d. 1805, in Newberry Co., S. C., but sometime after Reginald’s death."
Doliante also notes that his name is frequently misspelled as Rignal or Regnal, and explains why James and Martha Odell have been identified as his parents, and not John and Eleanor Odell, as had been given in some earlier genealogies.
p. 584:
"Last issue of James and Martha (Prather) Odell:
"xi. Charlotte Odell was unm. In 1779… and was undoubtedly still a minor. We know nothing further of her with any certainty…"

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:
Odell-452 and Odell-151 appear to represent the same person because:
Children will also need to be merged. Doliante lists 11 documented children. Elendor is likely Eleanor. Margreat would be Margaret. Both Rignall and Ringnail would be Reginald (many different spellings appear in various documents of the time). Both Thomases and all three Johns are the same people, there was only one John and one Thomas.
