Biography

Alice born 21 April 1800, daughter of Hugh O'Donnell and Alice Hutchinson. [1]

Alice married on 10 May 1817 to William Robert Clayton, son of Sir William Clayton 4th Bt and Mary East. They were divorced in 1830.

Alice married R. B. Younger, Esq., of Yeoveney House, near Staines

"On Wednesday, the 11th inst., was buried, at Old Windsor, Alice, wife of R. B. Younger, Esq., of Yeoveney House, near Staines. The procession left Yeoveney at eleven o'clock, and consisted of a hearse and four horses fully caparisoned, plume bearer, two mourning coaches and four horses. In the first coach was Mr. Younger, H. M. Massy, Esq., half-brother of the deceased, and M. Dixon, Esq., of Limerick. In the second coach was the Rev. Mr. Govett, Vicar of Staines, Doctor Baker, of Staines, and Mr. William Tyler, of Marlow. Then followed Mr. Younger's and Mr. Massy's private carriages. The funeral service was most impressively read by the Rev. Gefford Cookesley, son of the Rev. G. Cookesley, of Eton, who was tutor to Mr. Younger. On a massive brass plate on the coffin was the following : " Alice Hugh Massy Younger, born April 21st, 1800, died October 3rd, 1843, aged 43." The deceased was the only daughter of the late Colonel O'Donnel, and grand-daughter of the late Sir Neal O'Donnel, of Westport, county of Mayo, Ireland. She was a descendant of the ancient Kings of Ireland, and her remains are deposited beside the mighty and the noble in the romantic and venerated Church-yard of Old Windsor. The funeral was conducted by Mr. Adams,of Staines." [2]
