Thomas was born in 1852. He was the son of Robert Dring O'Grady and Eliza Hobson.
His father died in 1862 and his mother died in 1866.
He emigrated from Ireland to Australia where he married Vilette Flintoff (b. 21 Jan 1869, Sydney, Australia, d. 30 Jun 1949) in 1893 in Grafton, New South Wales.
They went on to have about five children.
Thomas died on 30 August 1931 and was buried at Grafton General Cemetery, Grafton, Clarence Valley Council, New South Wales, Australia[1].
