Biography

Weddings (1941, May 30). Albury Banner Wodonga Express and Riverina Stock Journal (NSW : 1941), p. 30. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article138909109 Weddings POST— O'KEEFE The marriage of Valda Fay, older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. O'Keefe, Walwa, and Stanley George, only son of Mrs. Post and the late Mr. George Post, also of Walwa, was solemnised in St. John's Church of England, Walwa, the Bev. Cross officiating. The! bride wore a simple frock of magnolia slipper satin, long sleeves and a Peter Pan collar. The embossed veil of matching tulle and a bouquet of lilies and fern gave an effective finish. The bride's sister, Doreen, and the bridegroom's niece, Miss Jean Osmond, were bridesmaids, and were frocked alike in pale pink broderie anglaise, with short tulle veils, and carried bouquets of pink carnations and blue delphiniums. Mr. Murray Jarvis, Cudgewa, cousin of the bridegrom, was best -man, and the bride's cousin, Mr.Laurie Purss, groomsman. At the signing of the register, Mrs. P. Hutchinson sang, 'I'll Walk Beside You.' Mrs. F. Nolan, Holbrook, cousin of the bride, was organist. The reception was held at the public hall, where 60 guests were received by Mrs. O'Keefe in a smart black frock. Mrs. Post assisted and wore a navy ensemble, with matching hat. The decorations were streamers of pink, blue and white, and a large wedding bell was suspended above the heads of the young couple. A feature of the breakfast table was the double-tiered wedding cake in pale pink tonings. Amongst the many gifts received was a valuable pottery vase, sent from Palestine by the bride's cousin, Cpl. Fay Clyde, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Clyde, Holbrook. Mrs. Clyde was amongst the guests, and also present were friends from Melbourne. When leaving for the honeymoon the bride wore a blue sheer woollen ensemble, with high crowned blue felt hat and navy accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Post will live at Walwa.
