Thomas was born 13 Sep 1865 in Keyport, New Jersey, the son of James and Mary Ryan O'Keefe.
He married Margaret Burns, the daughter of Patrick and Mary Whalen Burns, on 23 Sep 1890 in Towanda at SS Peter & Paul's Catholic Church. They had eight children.
They moved to Punxsutawney in Jefferson County and raised their large family.
Thomas and his wife moved to Detroit, in 1929, to live with their son, Patrick. After the death of his wife, he moved to Franklin, Pennsylvania, to live near his daughter, Margaret O'Keefe McGinty.
He died in Franklin on 20 Nov 1947, and he was buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery there.
