Death: Obituary , CATHERINE MARY PANNOWITZ : The death occurred at the Narandera District Hospital on Wednesday evening last of another of the early residents of this district in the person of Mrs. Catherine Mary Pannowitz, relict of the late John Pannowitz, at the age of 78 years. Mrs. Pannowitz was born on the ship on which her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John O'Leary, migrated to Australia from Ireland in 1857. The family settled near Belfast (Victoria) and Mrs. Pannowitz attended the school at Koroit at the same time as Tommy Corrigan, the famous jockey of many years ago. Later the family moved to Sheep Hills. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Pannowitz had farming properties at Sheep Hills, and later at Nhill, from which place they moved to Whitton in March 1896, nearly 40 years ago. At Whitton Mr. Pannowitz acquired land and carried on farming and grazing operations. Mrs Pannowitz had been ill for a considerable time, and had been an inmate of the District Hospital for seven months. She was possessed of a cheerful and generous disposition and was held in high esteem by her many friends, who will deeply regret her death. Deceased is survived by four sons and three daughters.- The sons are William, of Woodstock; John, Patrick and James, all of Whitton. The daughters are Caroline May (Mrs. H. E. Weston, Whitton), Emma (Mrs. J. Grimmond, Narandera); and Kate, (Mrs. E. Rhodes, Whitton). Mr. Pannowitz pre-deceased her about three years ago. Two daughters also predeceased her. Deceased is also survived by 29 grand children and one great grand child. The funeral will take place at 3 p.m. to-day (Friday), and will move from the R.C. Church at Whitton. Messrs. Watkins Bros, have charge of the funeral arrangements.
