- 1911 - married Carrie Watson in Queensland[2]
- 1917 (30) - enlisted 20 Aug 1917 at Darlinghurst, New South Wales, service number 22310. His birth date was noted to be 29 Feb 1888, and he was a drover[1]
- 1912 - daughter Jean Rosamond O'Rourke was born 1912[3], died 5 Jan 1913 in Queensland[4]
- 1915 - daughter Phyllis O'Rourke was born in Queensland[5], but died shortly after on 7 Dec 1915[6]
- 1918 - son John Sydney O'Rourke was born 10 May 1918 in Sydney, New South Wales[7]
- 1919 - during the war, a contingent of Australians were stationed in Brightlingsea. Thomas had a brief relationship with Annie (Gant) Steady, and Annie had a daughter Mavis Phyllis Gant, born 22 May 1919[8][9], baptised on 18 June 1919 in Essex[10]
