Hi Lyn,

This is a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far?

Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them, so don't hesitate to let me know.

If you would like to change your Last Name at Birth (LNAB) to show the upper case G, use the "edit" link in the Edit screen right beside the LNAB field. Either way, you are showing up with other family members on the O'Grady index.

I'm here to help with issues and questions about how WikiTree works. You can reply to this comment or send me a private message.

P.S.S. Did you discover that the Tags you follow (names in green boxes) are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? They also control the information which is included in the activity reports which you receive from WikiTree. You can add up to 20 total, or delete some if you are receiving irrelevant information.

Thanks for your tips. I tried to change my family name at birth to McKay and was concerned that all the other information would be lost.

You can safely change your birth family name without losing anything. Your first 50 contributions won't be displayed automatically when you click the Contributions link after the change but you can always get back to it using this link:

https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&who=O%27grady-845

Other than that, everything you have done, profile created, etc will still be linked to you.

Glad you were able to get upgraded. You might amend you Tags to just the surname. Tags become clickable links to others researching those surnames. It won't work as well if you include Forenames.

WikiTree does take a little getting used to, but I am sure you will master it.

Wendy

Hi Lyn

Have you confirmed your email address yet? The confirmation request comes as an email. It can sometimes end up in a spam folder.

If you have confirmed your email, then go to your profile and click on ‘Upgrade’, near the words Guest Member. Alternatively, try adding your genealogy communication preferences.

Let me know if you need further advice
