No experience is required, but as you enter data, it's very important to include at least a birth date/place or a death date/place. Otherwise, it's next to impossible to find matches. Can you imagine how many John Smiths there are in the world? Dates and places are very important.
Another important consideration: documentation and sources for each profile you create, especially for ancestors in the 1800's and before. It's so easy to add the wrong ancestor so documenting and sourcing can be critical in finding your correct heritage and helping to promote accuracy in the worldwide tree.
