Obituary

“Mrs. Louise P. Warthen, 95, widow of Thomas Eugene Warthen, died early Sunday at her home at St. Anthony’s, where she had lived all her life. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its Sodahty. She had been Belfast for three years.

“A daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Shorb O’Toole, she was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom survive. Her husband died 13 years ago.

‘The survivors are: Mrs. Daniel E. Callahan, Gettysburg. Mrs. Charles Eckenrode, Emmitsburg; Mrs Louis H. Callahan, Baltimore; Miss Laura Louise Warthen, at home; Louis E. Warthen, Emmitsburg; Mrs. J. W. Wetzel, Baltimore; Joseph Rudolph Warthe, Emmitsburg; James Carmen Warthen, Baltimore; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Also, a number of nieces and nephews survive.

‘The body is at the funeral home in Thurmont where friends May call after 7 p.m. today. Members of the Sodality Will meet at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7:30 for prayers.

‘Requiem high mass will be celebrates Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Church with Rev. Fr. Vincent Tomalski the celebrant. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. M. L. Creamer and Son, funeral directors.” “The News” (Frederick, Maryland) 15 Dec 1958 Page 4

“A requiem high mass was celebrated for Mrs. Louise P. Warthen at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She was the widow of Thomas E. Warthen. Rev. Father Vincent Tomalski was the celebrant. Mrs. Warthen died Sunday at her home at St. Anthony’s. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased; Eugene Callahan, John Callahan, John Warthen, George Warthen, William Warthen, and David Warthen. Interment followed in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. M. L.
