George was born about March 1850 in Fentress County, Tennessee. He was the son of William Oakes and Malinda Wright.
He passed away 1890 in Reno, Washoe County, Nevada after being snow-bound. His burial location is not known but there is a findagrave memorial dedicated to him. [1]
