Elizabeth M. Oakes was born in Mar 1899 in Dennison Township, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. She was the eighth of nine children, and the youngest daughter born to Elizabeth Schrader and Richard Oakes. At the time of the 1900 census she was living in Dennison Township with her parents and seven older siblings. She was 1 year old.[1]
She received her nurse's training at St. Timothy's Memorial Hospital, Roxborough, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the time of the 1920 census she was living at St. Timothy's Hospital on Ridge Avenue S.E., Philadelphia. She was 20 years old and listed as a "pupil nurse."[2] In 1930 she rented Apartment #3, 131 Sumac Street, Philadelphia for $25.00 a month. She was single, age 29, and her occupation was listed as "Grad. nurse - private cases."[3] She served as a nurse in France during World War II.
Elizabeth Oakes died on 25 Feb 1985 in Philadelphia.[4]
