He was listed as being "40 Labourer from Orlingbury".

Josiah ran The Oakley Arms on Gilles Street, Adelaide in April 1839.[5]
After his wife Sarah died in 1839, Josiah married Elizabeth MORLEY on 25 Oct 1853, at Morphett Vale, SA.

He passed away in 1876,

and was buried at Kangarilla Wesleyan Methodist/Uniting Cemetery.

His death was reported in the Adelaide papers, The Express and Telegraph (Adelaide, SA : 1867 - 1922) Sat 12 Aug 1876 Page 2 Family Notices[9]
DIED.
OAKLEY.—On July 27th, at his residence, Kangarilla, Josiah Oakley, aged 88 years. Arrived in the ship Buffalo in the year 1836. He leaves two sons and two daughters and a large number of grandchildren to lament his loss.
