Birth: 1619, England Death: 1703, England John Oakes was born abt. 1619 in England. The date and place of his death are unknown. The names of his parents are also unknown. John married Elizabeth Harrison and they had a son named John.

John and Elizabeth's son sailed to America in the late 1660's and landed in Virginia. He acquired land as a "head right" to the King and was a tobacco planter on the York River. He appears to have been the original immigrant to America from this line of the Oakes/Oaks family.^[2]
