Lynn was born in 1914. He was the son of William Oaks and Janett Bethers. He passed away in 1984.
He was born Lynn Eugene Oaks, but by the time daughter Linda was born in 1942 he was known as Lyman Eugene Oakes, as he was when son Martin was born in 1948. His brother Martin Ervyn also added an "e" to his surname.
