Jane was born in 1838. She was the daughter of John Oakes and Ruth (Hazlett) Oakes Morton.
In 1850, Jane was living in Black Lick Township, Indiana, Pennsylvania.[1]
Before 1860, she was married to Henry Eshbaugh.[2] Their son was Joseph Eshbaugh (b. ~1843).
She passed away in 1873, aged 35.
Might have been the daughter of John Oakes and Ruth Hazlett (later Oakes, then Morton)... which John Oakes is the question, though. Same page in the 1850 census has the family of Samuel Oakes. If he was Jane and John's uncle, which of his brothers was their father?[3]
I believe John Oaks (1758-1835) and Mary Ennis are Jane and John's grandparents, based on nearby families in census records. Waiting for the merge of duplicates of the grandparents to continue. - Oaks-601 12:31, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
Jane may have later married Samuel Baird and moved to Illinois. Still trying to figure out if this is actually her, though.
Need a source for death date. (using a date pulled from other Ancestry trees temporarily).
