Research Notes
Author: Sharon Spangler.
Hello, I have these children of William but I also have Roger 1772-1837 born in Wythe County, Virginia as his son. I've lost the documentation. Does anyone have Roger Oatts as a son of William 1734-1818? As the oldest son, he could have been born in VA on the migration south. Thank you.

NOTE: Quoting from the Cora Case Porter book: "William and Jean Sloan Oates were Presbyterians. They were members of t he Presbyterian Church at Mercersburg, PA before their removal to NC. They were listed in 1769 in the Eldership list of the Rev. Dr. John D. King, the beloved pastor of this church from 1769 until his death in 1811. William Oates; Jean Oates; Mrs. Wason."

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
