He was living with his parents and siblings at house 27 in Roche's Street (Waterford Urban No. 4, Waterford) and he was attending school in 1901[2]

He was living with his parents and siblings at 7 in Sargents Court (Waterford Urban No. 1, Waterford) and he was working as a Cork Cutter's Apprentice in 1911[3]

He was a labourer at the time of his marriage to Johanna Murray in 1921
