Dinah was born 4 August 1819 to Eli Odell and Elizabeth Rogers . [1]
Dinah married about 1837 to her first cousin John Odell, son of John Odell and Rebecca Hendrix. They were the parents of three sons, Laurens Stephen Oliver Odell, James Holloway Odell, and John J Odell. [2] Dinah's husband, John Odell, died June 4,1847. He was killed in the explosion of the S.S. Edna in the Mississippi River off Columbia, Louisiana. [3]
Dinah Odell and son Oliver Odell can be found in the 1850 census of Newberry County South Carolina in the household of her sister-in-law Elizabeth Odel. [4]
Dinah married second on 28 November 1854 to Benjamin Duckett. [1] Dinah had no children with her second husband, Benjamin Duckett, who died in 1861. Dinah filed for and received a pension based on the service of Benjamin Duckett in the War of 1812. [5]
Dinah Duckett can be found with son Oliver Odell in 1870 census records for Newberry County South Carolina.[6] In 1880 Dinah's household includes son Oliver and son James Odell, along with James' family.[7]
Dinah Duckett died in Newberry County, South Carolina between 12 September 1888 when her will was written and 6 October 1888 when the will was probated.[8]
