According to source #5, page 47, Caleb married Alice Newman, daughter of Samuel Newman, in North Carolina.

What is the evidence for a Newman-Thorne connection?

O'Dell-340 and Odell-1891 appear to represent the same person because: These are both the same person. Same birth date, same death date, same spouse.

The last name at birth should be spelled Odell, not O'Dell. The variation of spelling the name with an apostrophe did not appear until after 1850. All documents and gravestones made before 1850 always had the name spelled Odell. This name originated in the village of Odell, England. It is not an Irish name.
