Research Notes

Douglas Richardson states that Hugh, 6th earl of Chester, and his wife Bertrade de Montfort, had one son and five daughters, the last of whom, unnamed, was married to Llywelyn ap Iorwerth, Prince of North Wales.[1]

Such a marriage, however, does not fit the narrative of Llywelyn's own life, wife and mistresses.

Unknown (Meschines) le Meschines profile:

This is how I look at it. The profile already says the unknown person's identity and existence are not verified. I feel there are two good reasons not to delete it. 1. Future improvements to genealogy online may provide clarification, but if there is no one connected to this husband, such a search may be entirely ignored. 2. The existence of an "unknown" indicates there is a possible ancestral family somewhere attached, and the name Meschines with a depiction of a person, century, gender, location is a first clue to finding an identity Since there is a caveat attached, "no harm, no foul," but a possible benefit is derived from keeping it. As I've gone through my searches, every thread leads toward a confirmation or disqualification. I like more hints than fewer. Further, a note lower on the page suggests such a family exists.

I would suggest that since the support for a marriage of this person with Llywelyn ap Iorworth is not sustained, the spouse connection in the data field be dropped, retaining the linkage between profiles in the biographical narrative.
