Biography

Charles, the son of David Ogden and Catherine Gardner, was born in 1820 and he died on 31 July 1890 in Marysville, Union County, Ohio.[1] His middle name has been shown as "Stout," but evidence is lacking.

Charles married twice. He married Martha Tucker on 1 March 1848 in Ross, Ohio, United States.[2] After Martha died, he next married Sarah Armstrong on 24 April 1860 in Ross, Ohio, United States.[3]

In the 1860 census Charles (age 40) and Sarah (age24) were in Union Township, Ross, Ohio, United States.[4] In their household were Charles's children by his first wife, George (age 11) and Mary (age 5).

In the 1870 census Charles (age 51) and Sarah (age 37) were in Union Township, Ross, Ohio, United States.[5] Also resident were their four children, Lincoln (9), Belle (7), David (4), and Clara (2), and Charles's daughter from his first marriage, Mary (15).

In the 1880 census Sarah (age 44) is the head of household in Chillicothe, Ross, Ohio, United States.[6] The whereabouts of Charles is not known. In her household are their children, Lincoln (18), Bell (17), David (13), Harry (11) and Molly (3).

Charles and and Martha (Tucker) Ogden had two children:

  1. George Ogden, born about 1850 and died 9 January 1924.[7]
  2. Mary Ella Ogden, born in 1854 and died 15 February 1904.[8]

Charles and Sarah (Armstrong) Ogden had the following children:

  1. Andrew Lincoln Ogden, born in 1861 and 21 December 1934.[9]
  2. Belle Ogden, born about 1863.
  3. Charles Ogden, born 2 March 1864 and died 13 August 1865.
  4. David Ogden, born about 1867 and 2 February 1922.[10]
  5. Clara Ogden, born about 1868.
  6. Harry Ogden born about 1870.
  7. William J Ogden, born on 7 November 1871.[11] Chas's son Wm J Ogden died on 29 October 1890 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, United States.[12]
  8. Mary Ogden, born on 14 December 1877.[13]

Charles was buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, Union County, Ohio, United States with a death date of 31 July 1890.[1]
