Susan Mary Ogden was born in Monroe County Kentucky to James and Sarah Ogden. Susan is first seen in the 1850 U.S. Federal Census and was the oldest child of the couple. She is listed in the census as age 5. Her death index and grave indicates her birth year as 1849. Based on the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1900 Federal Census, her birth year was actually in 1845 or 1846.
She married Schyler Scott on March 12, 1870 in Monroe County, Kentucky. The couple had 4 children listed here from oldest to youngest: Nannie Ardella [Della], Robert, Hattie and Amanda [Manda] and are seen in the 1880 Federal Census.
By the 1900 Federal Census she was a widow living with her children Robert, Hattie, and Amanda in Turner, Monroe County, Kentucky. She is still living on her farm with son Robert in the 1920 U.S. Federal Census.
She fell dead on June 30, 1928 in Monroe County, Kentucky and is buried in the Simmons Cemetery, Monroe County, Kentucky. Her father James Ogden is also buried in the cemetery.
