Jody Baxter remembers meeting Nan Hickam in New Mexico about 1966. One son died in a stampede and the other son died after the kids were playing and his brother picked up a bucket of something and threw it on his brother. The brother ran by the fire and burst into flames and died in front of everybody. The bucket had contained kerosene. Jody really liked Nan — she was super interesting, really old and her mind was very sharp. She told them may stories about her life.
