Biography

Narrative & Notes from Findagrave.com:
Kisiah Ogle was the daughter of Wyatt and Winifred Mooneyham Ogle. I have listed her as Kisiah as that was how it was shown on her son Wiett's headstone, and she was listed as Kisiah in the 1850 census. I have numerous records on her, but at no time on any of these records did she ever sign her name..it was always "Her X Mark" shown on the papers.

As noted in Zachariah's memorial, she was the mother of seven children all born in Missouri. After Zachariah died in 1873 at age 62, on 11 Feb., 1874 Kisiah purchased a lot in the town of Lower Lake, Lot B in block 1, part of the property in Sections 2 and 11, previously deeded to her son William Blann on 9 Jan., 1874. Kisiah's land transaction is entered in Book 4, page 474 at the Lake Co., Courthouse.[1]

On 5 Dec., 1877 she filed for a homestead on this property, stating she was a widow and living on the property with her children. This is entered in Homestead Deed Bk. 1, page 282.[2]

On 26 Aug. 1880, she filed for what was called an "Original Pension of a Mother" on her son John Blann for his Civil War service. She spent many years trying to get help from the pension fund. They kept making her come up with affidavits from people that knew them in Livingston Co., Missouri and by then some of those people had died or moved on. She claimed that husband had never been in good health, having suffered with kidney and liver problems most of his life, and that her son John had been a major factor in the farming and making them a living until he went into the service, Pension Record # 277896.

In her 1880 deposition, Kisiah states that she is the widow of Zachariah Blann and mother of John Blann and that there were these children under the age of 16 when John died: L .A. Blann (Laura or Lurana Adaline) b. 1851; Mary E. Blann b. 1849; and P. G. Blann (Pleasant Green) b. 1853.
