Biography

Betty was born in 1932. She was the daughter of Arthur Ohrt and Lena Doughty. She passed away in 1989.

Both ( Betty and Marvin) held the hope that what they did as teachers would make a difference in the world, whether they were dealing with those students who were the best and brightest or those who seemed less promising and whose gift glowed more dimly. Both gave wholly of themselves in everything they did, and both were impatient with those who gave less of themselves. Taken from Dr T Rivers, Chair Department of Music EWU, spoken at Memorial Concert in honour of Betty and Marvin.
