Biography

Gudmund Olson Ile was born in 1633, and was the son of Olav Larson Håland in Erfjord.[1]

He was married to Brynhild Osmundsdotter Stokka (1623-1690), and lived at Ile in Vikedal.[1]

Gudmund and Brynhild had ten children.[1]

  • Kari, their daughter, lived at Stillufseikje[1]
  • Osmund, their son, lived at Stokka[1]

Gudmund died in 1675.[1]

The probate of Gudmund and Brynhild was 1 and 2 Oct 1690, after her death, and involved property across 50 farms worth almost 60 laups of butter.[1] Berge Velde has called them the greatest land owners in Rogaland - if not to say Western Norway - in their day.[1]

The total value involved in the probate was 3483 riksdaler, and included objects such as three silver jugs, a silver bowl, a crown and belt of silver, 22 tin platters and 33 tin plates.[1]

Gudmund Olafsen Ile / Håland was married to Brynhild, the daughter of Asmund Johannesson Stokka and Liva Jonsdtr. Tøtland.

They lived on the Ile in Vikedal and had lands in 50 farms with a total of about 60 Lauper butter.

Berge Velde called the couple 'Rogaland - or say the West of Norway - greatest lord of this time'. The total value was reckoned to 3483 Riksdaler. It was among other three silver decanters, silver bowl, silver belt and silver crown, 22 tinnfat and 33 tin dishes. A very large wealth was divided among the 10 their children.

Gudmund and Brynhild was second cousins ​​and did got the Kings Royal License dated 24 February 1652 permission for marriage by paying 10 thalers. They had 10 children together, three sons and seven daughters.

Olav, moved to his grandfather's farm Håland. Åsmund on Stokka got his grandfather's farm. Lars Ile became sheriff in Vikedal. His one son, Peder, took the name Tønder, who was his mother's family name. Peder Tønder was Bailiff in Kragerø. The 7 daughters were all married into famous families.
