Biography
Descendants report he was awarded two Iron Cross medals for service in WWI, & the same source also claims he spoke seven languages, published a newspaper in Berlin, had correspondence with Hindenburg, & left Germany for the US because of political differences with the growing Nazi party.
Upon arriving in the US, Oldenburg & family made their way to Wisconsin to join a maternal cousin of his. He was naturalized in 1929.
